Let’s start by asking this question. How would you advise someone to lose weight? The obvious answer is to cut your intake(change what you eat) and increase your output(exercise more). This is a pretty simple concept correct? I would think that 9/10 over-weight people know and understand that concept. It appears easy, eat fewer calories and exercise more. If it is so easy then why are we a nation of obese people?
Let’s ask this question. How would you advise me to grow my practice? You would probably recommend that I do more marketing correct? Seems easy. Then why are so many health care practitioners struggling?
There are one, two or three things that are stopping you from growing your practice. They are:
- Mindset
- Mechanics
- Both mindset and mechanics
Let’s go back to weight loss. If a person’ identity is that they are fat; they can go on the best diet and exercise program in the world and even lose 100lbs. Everyone will tell them how amazing they are; how great they look and how proud of them that they are. They will be the envy of anyone who tried and failed to lose weight. Remember if their identity is that they are fat, meaning if they see them-self as a fat person then they will self-sabotage them-self at some point.This is the main reason why people who lose tremendous amounts of weight end up putting it and then some, back on. It’s not the diet or exercise or lack thereof, it is their MINDSET in this example. If this person is ever going to lose weight then they will have to change their identity along with deploying good mechanics.
If you are having difficulty growing your practice you must look at how you are viewing your practice, life and yourself. Then you must evaluate if your skill-sets(mechanics) are effective. Admittedly this is very difficult to do on your own and should really be done with the help of a professional coach who is trained at spotting where the weaknesses are and then can show you how to fix them quickly.
Let me give you an example. A practitioner began coaching with me years prior. He was able to generate 1-2 new patients every month or two. (Yes you read that correctly 1-2 NP every month or two.)
